Making up about 50% of your total race time, the bike portion of a triathlon is where equipment choices can make the difference between first and fifth. And no other equipment choice will save you more time than a disc wheel. While traditionally-shaped disc wheels are faster than their spoked counterparts, the 321 disc turns conventional design on its head, creating the fastest wheel available.

Disc wheels often fall into two categories—a completely flat shape, with structure coming from carbon fiber and a honeycomb-foam filling, or a spoked wheel that's been faired with a carbon fiber cover. In our quest to break traditions, the 321 uses a single layer of 1k carbon fiber on each side of the wheel, and it all comes together at the brake track bridge. This kind of carbon fiber is rarely used in bicycle components due to its high manufacturing cost, but it offers a bevy of performance benefits. This coveted carbon is much lighter than other layups, like 3k and 12k, and it can only be laid by the most skilled of carbon fiber craftsmen. It's complicated, but the payout is worth it, as it delivers a supple ride and one of the lightest disc wheels available. And in the real world, this means that it'll spin-up quickly and reduce fatigue over the long haul.

Stiffness is often the "hot-topic" in the disc wheel world, but we think it's an interesting conversation. It's long been thought that efficient power transfer and high stiffness are directly correlated, but through extensive field testing, we've determined that this isn't the case at all. In fact, our initial disc was so stiff that, under power, it wouldn't flex with the frame and this caused brake rub. This wrongly creates the perception of a flexy wheel, when really, the wheel is actually too stiff. In order to solve the brake rub problem, we first designed our optimal aero shape and then worked on our internal stiffness targets to fit within what we consider to be a desirable frame stiffness.

And while light overall weight was a development priority, our focus was aerodynamics. Through hours of Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) and testing in the Win Tunnel, we developed a new-to-category shape that's optimized to work with a tire for on-bike airflow. What this translates to is an all-carbon disc wheel that, on the non-drive-side, has a shape that's as aerodynamic as our current understanding allows, and a drive-side shape that's as aerodynamic as the wheel-dish and derailleur clearance will allow for.

To save every possible watt, we've also added CeramicSpeed bearings and DT Swiss 240 hub internals into our hub. Each 321 Disc wheel is also 2Bliss-Ready out of the box and comes with a padded wheel bag, quick-release, tubeless valve, and SwissStop Black Prince brake pads.

At Velocipede, we go to great lengths to make sure your new bike is assembled and rolls out the shop floor in race-ready condition.
For safety, we recommend the final assembly of the bicycle is undertaken by a professional bike mechanic at a bicycle store.

Our professionally certified mechanics ensure your bike is built to the best standards, with correct assembly and use a quality control checklist so you can be sure to know your bike is built to ride safely.
Any assembly undertaken by an individual who is not a trained bicycle mechanic is at the customer’s own risk and any damage caused as a result of improper installation will not be covered under warranty.

  1. Placing Orders
    1. Orders submitted by you on the Velocipede website are an offer to purchase the goods at the specified price plus any delivery charges. Velocipede may accept or reject the offer at our discretion.
    2. When placing orders for multiple items we will, where possible, dispatch all goods as one parcel. In some cases orders may come from multiple locations or be too large to be packaged together. In these cases you will receive multiple parcels and tracking numbers.
    3. Pre-Order purchases will be accepted at the time of purchase and completed subject to supplier availability and your position in the waitlist.
    4. We may decline to accept payment from you for reasons such as where our fraud detection systems detect possible irregularities; (b) because your financial institution has declined payment; or (c) because your payment card has expired. If this occurs we reserve the right to cancel your order or request you provide additional information such as;
  2. Cancelation of Orders
    1. Velocipede reserves the right to cancel an order at any time before delivery has been completed/delivered for any of the following reasons;
      1. Goods ordered were subject to an error on our Website, for example, in relation to a description, price or image, which was not discovered prior to the Order being accepted.
      2. A regular delivery partner cannot deliver the goods to your specified address.
      3. A supplier can no longer supply the goods after promising to do so
      4. We do not receive a reply from you within 5 business days when we have contacted you for any reason in relation to your order.
    2. Shipping
      1. Our delivery partners will only leave the item if they deem it to be safe to do so, even if you have instructed us to do so. In cases where it is not deemed safe they will leave an attempted delivery card.
      2. In rare cases we may need to charge additional delivery fees where it is not possible to use our regular door to door courier service. In this instance you will be contacted with the option to pay for the additional freight via an invoice. If you decline to accept the additional charge we will cancel the order and refund all funds to your original purchase method.
    3. Refunds
      1. Refund items must be in new condition and unused. This includes all the original packaging.
      2. Refunds will only be processed back to the original payment method.
      3. Refunds will be processed within 2 business days of receiving the return to our warehouse.
      4. Funds may take up to 5 business days to clear after processing depending on the payment method and the financial institution.

 

What is Velocipede Click & Collect.

Velocipede 'Click & Collect' is an online purchase option that allows you to buy items online and head in to our Velocipede Parramatta to collect your goods once they are ready. 

How long does my Click & Collect order take to be ready for collection?

Depending on your purchase your order can be ready for collection anywhere from the same business day up to 7 business days.

How do I get an update on my Click & Collect order?

Do I need to bring anything to collect my order?

You should bring your purchase confirmation email that you receive after completing payment on our website. You should also bring some form of identification with you.
